While on a mission trip to Kisumu, Kenya in 2002, I was teaching
an art class at a women's ministry called TEMAK (Teenage Mothers and Girls
Association of Kenya). TEMAK is a center for young ladies who have
difficulty supporting themselves because of adverse circumstances. Most
are single mothers. Some have AIDS and some are orphaned due to AIDS
and have no family to help them. The goal of TEMAK is to provide
counseling and economic empowerment for these young ladies and children.
During this trip, I was taken
with the beauty of the landscape and its people, despite the deep hardships
that they faced every day. These are some of the pieces that I felt
compelled to paint after returning.
It is my desire to support TEMAK with
the sale of these works. With each online purchase, 30% will be donated to TEMAK to support its work and ministries.
